Expanding Access and Advancing Care
Opened the new CityGate outpatient center and advanced construction on three neighborhood hospitals — WellSpan Carlisle, WellSpan Newberry and WellSpan Shrewsbury Hospitals — bringing high‑quality care even closer to home.
Placed the final steel beam on WellSpan York Hospital’s new eight‑story Surgical and Critical Care Tower, which will feature state‑of‑the‑art surgical suites, the latest robotic and advanced medical technology, expanded pre‑ and post‑operative areas, additional private ICU rooms with family space and dedicated areas supporting cardiovascular, neurology and trauma care.
Became the only hospital in Pennsylvania to deploy three da Vinci 5 surgical robots, expanding access to advanced minimally invasive procedures.
Martin Foot and Ankle joined WellSpan, making us the region’s largest employed podiatry provider and expanding access to comprehensive foot and ankle care.
Strengthening Education and Workforce Development
Formalized an agreement with the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University to establish a medical school campus in York.
Launched WellSpan Health’s Psychiatry Residency Program, a four‑year program welcoming six residents annually and growing to 24 residents at full capacity — addressing the critical need for mental health providers in our region.
WellSpan York Hospital was recognized as one of the nation’s top teaching hospitals by The Leapfrog Group.
Recognition for Excellence in Quality, Safety and Innovation
Multiple WellSpan hospitals earned “A” safety grades from The Leapfrog Group.
Six hospitals achieved High Performing status in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025–26 Best Hospitals rankings.
WellSpan earned nearly 50 Healthgrades distinctions across cardiac, critical care and specialty services.
WellSpan received the 2025 ACCC Innovator Award for pioneering machine learning tools that improve palliative care referrals.
The American Medical Group Association honored WellSpan with the 2025 Acclaim Award for high‑quality, equitable care.
WellSpan became the first health system in Pennsylvania — and one of only three in the nation — to earn Network Center of Excellence status in robotic surgery.
Investing in Community Health and Well‑Being
Committed $3.5 million to innovative housing solutions, impacting an estimated 45,000 individuals — the largest community grant investment in WellSpan’s history.
Donated 10 acres of land to the Greencastle-Antrim School District to expand the Tayamentasachta Environmental Center.
Expanded physical and mental health services to York College with a new student health center.
Contributed more than $364.7 million to community programs and services, as highlighted in our community impact report.
Hosted a record‑breaking blood drive honoring fallen York County officers and supporting those recovering from critical injuries.
Honoring Leadership and Team Excellence
President and CEO Roxanna Gapstur, Ph.D., R.N., was named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania and recognized by Modern Healthcare, Becker’s and the Central Penn Business Journal for her leadership.
